Dear Jaguar Owners Club members and friends, From the President…

                I want to thank those members who participated in our annual OFFICERS ELECTIONS and your confidence in our 2020 Club Officers to continue their responsibilities into 2021. They are all a great bunch of folks who support all the club events and administrative duties. I also want to acknowledge the Chairmen’s who are appointed by the Board of Directors.

                CHARLIE HALLUMS, Concours Chairman, who consistently puts on a terrific annual JOCLA CONCOURS, with his wisdom, experience, and energy our club continues to put on a great show, support our Driven and Champion competitors all the while he keeps the Judges up to date with his annual JCNA Judges School.

                I want to single out TOM HINKLEY, Touring/Rally Chairman, who one day volunteered to be the Rally Master and continues to give us outstanding rallies/tours even during this COVID-19 Pandemic. If you have not participated in one of our tours, you really are missing something special.

                CHARLEY ANTON, Club Photographer, continues to take great photos of events and special places he travels to, his latest article on HOLLYWOOD Movies is interesting and really underscores how this town of ours is featured on the big screen.

                JANET SOWELL, Web Master/Mistress, our web site is one of the most viewed in the Western Region thanks to Janet and her tech skills. Since we introduced our new site and added the CLUB EXPRESS feature we now have streamlined our registration process, added more photos, member renewals are easier, new member recruitment is up, and event advertising is more effective and member participation is way up even with the current restrictions. Thank You Janet for making this all possible and your continued support of the JOCLA Website. Also, THANK YOU STEVE KIRBY, Director, for your help and suggestions on our events, website management, announcements, and wisdom.

                BRIAN and LISA ELLIS, New Members Public Relations, “THANK YOU, THANK YOU” to you both for doing such a great job in welcoming new members to the club. These folks contacted every new member and welcomed them and described our events, features on the web site, how to’s, and gossiped about some of the personalities, all of which made a new member feel as though they had joined a family. They will be sorely missed as work has become more important, our best wishes and thanks.

                DONTE NEAL, Second Vice President, Donte is our point man regarding dealer relations and social media promotions. Donte represents the new generation of JOCLA member, and I look forward to his inputs and energy to grow the club membership and ideas regarding recruiting new Jaguar owners. Donte is a leader in training.

                GENE COHEN, Treasurer, Gene is a gem of a guy who understands our financial position and keeps the treasury full and close to the vest. The club’s finances have not been this good since we stopped printing money on my Ink Jet printer. Thanks Gene, keep up the good work!

                JIM FRIEL, Director, Jim served as President and Treasurer and continue to serve as a Club Director, his wisdom and ideas contribute to our success as a club and a group of car crazies! Thanks Jim, always there as our sounding board.

                RALPH GIDWITZ, First Vice-President Activities, Ralph G. brings a corporate organizational skill to the BOD. He volunteered after shortly joining the club and wanted to help organize events, he then stepped into the FIRST VICE PRESIDENTS position and has never looked back. He is thorough, organized, detailed oriented, a good writer, and works well with Janet and the event chairman to get the events written up and to all the members in a concise format. This takes a person who understands details and organization. Ralph does a terrific job and is happy to serve once again in this position. 

                And finally, MARK MAYUGA, 2020 President, I want to thank all the club members who have supported me and my wonderful group of Directors, Chairman’s, and Elected Director’s for another terrific year of JOCLA Jaguar events. Even during this pandemic, the members and BOD continue to support the membership with ideas, events, and opportunities for us getting together. I am enjoying 51 years of Club membership; you are my extended family and have always made me feel welcomed. I currently serve and will continue as the 2020-21-23 Jaguar Clubs of North America Southwest Regional Director (13 clubs), JCNA Membership Committee Chairman, and the International Jaguar Festival Organizing Chairman.

                This year I was termed-out as your President, we had no viable candidate for the position of Club President, fortunately Ralph Gidwitz suggested that folks could write-in a candidate if they were willing to serve, he suggested myself. Charlie Hallums, elections chairman, received enough write-in votes to have me serve again as president for the next two years, 2021-22. During this time, I will be grooming possible candidates for the position of President as we have some talented folks joining the BOD and I look forward to their participation and possible election. 

*A special note, I want to acknowledge JUDY GRAVEN as one of our most cherished long-time members (1972), she has been my sounding board and co-chairman on events, she is special to the club!

 Here is to a momentous 2021-2022 term of office may we all come together again to enjoy our mutual passions and each other’s friendship.
