Despite the gloomy weather and COVID-19 concerns, members of JOCLA and San Diego Jaguar Clubs got together on Saturday morning October 24 at “SILKY SULLIVANS IRISH/ENGLISH PUB” in FOUNTAIN VALLEY. This community pub has been in continuous operation since the early 1980’s and has been host to major community events and charity fundraisers. Thank you, Nick, and Shawna Burger, for recommending the location. The menu read like a typical PUB FOOD MENU and was tasty no mater what your selection.
There was also an added feature to the event, the SHOW component was judged by the serving staff at SILKY’s, the waits and waitresses judged our Jaguar’s before breakfast was served. A collection of XJS’s, E-Types, XJ6 sedans, XKR, and Nick’s awesome E-Type Hot Rod Candy Apple Red were in the competition. We ate outside as the weather was balmy and fair, despite the gray overcast. The chatter at the tables was continuous and loud.
Chuck and Kathy Leuthen, Ben Washington, Layna Browdy, the Burger’s, Tom, and Elaine Henderson, to name a few of the participants enjoyed Egg’s Benedict, Corned Beef Hash, pancakes, the usual breakfast fare but with an Irish/English flavor. The service was quick and very pleasant, Dee, our waitress was quick to refill coffee cups and cold drinks. Folks wanted to return to SILKY’s soon, maybe a new location for JAGS ‘n JAM! By the way, the Winners for the Show ‘n Shine were MARK MAYUGA and his 1989 XJS ROUGE and NEDRA RUMMELL and her 2014 F-TYPE, the trophies were a FREE BREAKFAST at SILKY’s that morning or in the future. WE ALL HAD A GREAT TIME AND ENJOYED THE EVENT!
SILKY’s could be the site for the DECEMBER HOLIDAY BRUNCH/LUNCH!!!
JOIN US NEXT TIME, MARK MAYUGA, reporting
