Subject: Introducing the New JOCLA Activities Director
From: Mark Mayuga, JOCLA President

My name is Nicholas Berger.  I am a fellow longtime member of the JOCLA.  I have suggested and volunteered for the recreated position of Activities Director.

So first let me tell you a bit about me and then some of the non-driving activities I will be working on.

I purchased my 1968 E type new 56 years ago. I then joined the club soon after I purchased my car. For those that can’t remember names but do remember the cars it is a mechanically numbers matching vehicle.  However quoting Raymond Lowey, the designer of the Avanti "...never leave well enough alone..." following that quote I made about 60 modifications to my Jag starting with the candy apple red paint job, and then following the theme of deleting anything that broke the smooth lines of the car.

My plans for this position as Activity Director, is to set up interesting non driving events that our our members will enjoy but don't have the time to research themselves.  Currently I contacted Maguire's wax to set up a full day’s event at their offices in Irvine where they will explain and give hands on experience using their products.  I am currently waiting for them to give me a few dates to choose from.

Also in the works, I am setting up a docent tour of Union station with a no host lunch at Phillipe's across the street.

Also planning a Saturday drive/ride out to Cooks Corner where they have pretty good lunches and a band to listen or to dance.  There is also the Cheech Art Museum in Riverside and at a later date the Mission Inn also in Riverside.  Since everybody seemed to enjoy the breakfast at Hofs Hut, I’ll be setting up more breakfast meets.  Shauna and I enjoy attending non-Jaguar car shows so I thought we could go to some such events so we could park together as a club.

If you would like to talk about these events, we could meet and talk with other members in a pleasant setting.  Naturally I will always be open to suggestions from our members.
