September is a perfect time for a casual drive to Valley Center to visit the Brick n Barn located at the former Betty Crocker Estate. Dating back to 1877, the 140 acre property was sold to William and Agnes Tizard in 1920. Mrs. Tizard took on the persona of "Betty Crocket" and hosted the first radio cooking show, appeared in magazines and developed recipes for a company the became General Mills from her Valley Center Estate.
Open one weekend per month, Brick n Barn offers food, crafts, an outstanding array of antiques, remarkable local vendors, homemade baked goods, coffee and plenty of shady pepper trees where you can relax. Stop inside the barn to shop primitive, classical, farm, country, beach cottage, mid-century, vintage, rust, repurposed items and more. Bring your chairs and a picnic lunch or enjoy lunch from a food truck on site.
Registration is now open, this a fee event, but we would like to have an estimate of attendees for the Brink n Barn owners.
